The best pealess whistle to "talk"

Posted by Dallon Christensen on 17th Jun 2020

I've used an Acme Thunderer pea whistle in the past because I can vary tone. This whistle changed that for me. It can be really loud, but my favorite feature of the Kakapo is how I can really talk with it. Very sturdy, durable whistle that is worth the money.

    Extremely loud is an understatement

This whistle is EXTREMELY loud!!!! This whistle should be used for outdoor games only. I’ve had numerous comments about the pitch of the whistle. Many player don’t like being near me wen I blow the whistle. Therefore the performance is amazing.
As far as comfort... the whistle is mischievous bigger than my isial FOX 40. It takes a few minutes to get used to. I never held my whistle with a rope lanyard. I would always use another whistle (two FOX 40s). However the lanyard (any one of the three) works great. I don’t use it as intended in between the fingers; just something to hold on. They are make of silicone so you don’t have to worry about if slipping out to much. Other than that, this is by far the best whistle I’ve used. I haven’t used the Valkeen. However I’ve used nearly all the Fox and Acme whistles, with still coming back to the FOX 40 prior to purchasing this one.

    Valkeen killer

With other comparable whistles there are 3 sizes of grip. While I like this particular whistle better than the valkeen, the grip that comes with this is comparable to the small valkeen grip. With a bigger grip it would no doubt exceed the valkeen in every catagory.

    Great whistle, small grip

Posted by Logan Harrison TN on 5th Sep 2018

The valkeen comes with three different sizes of flip grips. Myself being a 6’5” Referee finds the grip very small and hurts my fingers going on an all weekend tournament!

Overall the whistle is fantastic and extremely loud and attention grabbing. A very high pitch tone that carries very well! Gear product!

    Attention getter

VERY sweet whistle. The three lanyards and three finger grips are over kill. Provide less of the grips and lanyards and drop the price.
Having a loud and different whistle is beneficial. Especially when dealing with adults or in a stadium environment.
I would have paid more if this was attached to a finger loop.

It’s the Valkeen, but much louder

Posted by Nick Ruel on 8th Jul 2018

I’ve been using the Valkeen for about three years and tried this whistle for the first time. It has the exact same tone, but much louder. If anything, it’s too loud. Even as a musician who teaches marching band and music, I find that this whistle hurts my ears and the players found it unpleasant and irritating as well. I think I’ll switch back to my Valkeen for now because of the volume issue.

This is a good whistle for games where you need a louder whistle to take control. If anything, it’s a good whistle to switch to from the Valkeen at half time if you’re suspecting that the second half is going to be worse. Just be aware of how loud and piercing it really is. For me, it is the difference between a 4 star rating and a 5 star rating and I’ll save it for those rare games where it might be warranted.

I use both the Valkeen and this whistle. The Kakapo is an excellent whistle.
